Most PHP scripts and websites will continue to work as usual, we are however aware that PHP 5.3 introduced some changes that are not backward compatible and may potentially break some PHP scripts.

Please be advised that due to an issue at the data cnter where our servers are, we have shutdown servers as a precaution.

Water has been identified in the rider cupboard that houses the local power distribution boards for these facilities. The water is believed to be coming from a higher floor and is working its way down the building.

Due to the high risk of an electrical fault, the power has been turned off. At this stage we have no guarantees that the generators will be able to supply power and therefore we have gracefully shutdown our servers.

We are also concerned that temperatures in the facility may rise as the Air Conditioner units are also fed from the same riser cupboard.

Building management are on site working to rectify the issue and PIPE's electrical contractor is in constant contact with the NOC regarding the situation.

We will provide updates as comments to this post as more information becomes available.

We have suffered a disk failure which is impacting our Email Plus service which is currently unavailable.

Apache and PHP have been unrelieable on cpanel03.avantihosting.com.au over the last few weeks.

cPanel support have identified the issue as a potential problem with the use of PHP version 5.2. Additionally official support for PHP 5.2 is no longer provided by PHP and as such it is time to upgrade to PHP 5.3.

Most PHP scripts and websites will continue to work as usual, we are however aware that PHP 5.3 introduced some changes that are not backward compatible and may potentially break some PHP scripts.

Avanti Hosting will install a maintencance update to Zimbra which powers our Email Plus service.

Due to this update, the Email Plus service will be unavailable for up to 2 hours from Thursday, 8 December 2011, evening, 8:30pm

This as impacted network connectivity to our servers between 22:00 and 22:45.

The attack seems to be under control now and the network stable again.

Our upstream provider will be preforming some maintenance work on Saturday, 20 August 2011 which will involve two short (< 1 minute) network outages.

  • We anticipate the first outage of less than one minute to occurr between 17:00 (5pm) and 18:00 (6pm) on Saturday, 20 August, 2011.
  • The second outage is anticipated to occur between 05:00 (5am) and 06:00 (6am) on Sunday, 21 August, 2011.

The above times are currently planned times and may possibly change. We will endeavour to keep you up to date with any changes.

We apologise for any inconvenience these two short outages may cause.
